Digital Music

They lied. They said digital music was better than records: no hiss, no scratches, easier to use, etc. However, they forgot to tell us a major flaw—digital music sounds like crap. There are no subtle undertones and sounds end abruptly instead of trailing off (instead of banggggg, we get bang). Instead of caressing your ears, it assaults them. Maybe some day they will find an electronic medium that can store digital music that has been created with a high enough sample rate that it can compete with the sound we get from records. Until then, we have to just grit our teeth and  remember how it used to be.

Draft

Women demand to be in military academies, in the military, on ships, in submarines, etc. Why don't they demand  to be registered for the draft as are men?

Uh!

Man who had done nothing for peace in his life, had been president of his country for one month, and who was leading his country in two wars wins Noble Prize for Peace.

God's Words

Why is that, when God writes something, such as the ten commandments he etched in the stone tablets, it is clear, concise, and unambiguous, such as "Thou shall not steal," but, when men write something that "God told them," it is symbolic, wordy, ambiguous, and open to many different interpretations? If God has something to say, why does he not just write it himself and eliminate the "sinful" middle men.

Uninvited

Thousand of uninvited, illegal aliens cross the border every day, many of whom are murders, rapists, thieves, and drug and arms traffickers and Congress and the Obama administration could care less. So what gets them excited enough to hold congressional hearings and want a government crackdown, an uninvited couple who attended a capital dinner with the President.

Avoiding Banks

According to a Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, nearly 30 million households have no bank account or have one but also use alternative financial services at least occasionally. 53% of African-American households and 43% of Hispanic households use check cashers or similar services instead of or in addition to banks. Those using check cashers and other services say they are faster, cheaper, and more convenient than banks—even though they pay a fee to cash a check they could deposit in a bank account for free. The FDIC avoids the real reason why these groups avoid banks—to hide income. If you have income, either legal or illegal, that you wish to hide so you may avoid taxes and qualify for welfare programs, then you only deal in cash.

Why not percentages?

The Winston-Salem Journal newspaper recently printed charts that show that more blacks than whites have been executed in North Carolina. Every time I see such a chart it compares the total executions for each race, or compares the percentage of executions for each race to the total population of each race. Why do they never compare the total executions to the number of convicted criminals who were eligible for the death penalty for each racial group. Could it be because the numbers would not support their cause. What I want to see is a chart that compares the number of executions to the number of capital offense convictions for each race, or a chart that show the percentage of capital crimes commited by each race compared to each races percentage of the population.

Mac vs. PC

According to Apple, the Windows OS is bug ridden and full of security flaws while the Apple OS is not. Is this true? NO! The Apple Snow Leapord OS has security holes and bugs that are constantly being patched, but we do we not hear about it. Why not? Because Apple does it quietly and because there are so few Apple users that the media doesn't care to tell about the story. Only 8% of PCs use the Apple OS. If you are a hacker, why waste your time on reaching 8% of PC users when it is more profitable to reach the other 92%.

Apple now claims Windows 7 is modeled after Snow Leapord. Even it is, so what. Is Apple above using unscrupulous business practices. Before stating Apple, Jobs and Wosniak broke the law by hacking long distance telephone service and sold "blue boxes" so others could do it. And Apple "stole" the graphic user interface and the use of a mouse from Xerox Parc.

Apple should just be happy with the 8% share they have had for the last 20 years and save money on misleading ads.

Coincidence

Coincidence is a powerful thing. It has created religions, built careers, and destroyed nations. Humans tend to always think everything happens for a reason. If a person drops a pot on the floor and the kitchen light goes out, the person assumes that something about the pot dropping caused the light to go out; it could not just be a coincidence that both things happened at the same instant. People pray for a child to live and the child lives, thus God ansered their prayers, it could not be that the child would have lived even without the prayer.

Don't accept coincidence as fact. If something is factual, it can be duplicated over and over again under the same circustances. If the light goes off everytime you drop a pot, then there may a connection between the two events. Otherwiase, it is just coincidence. If prayers work everytime, then they my be valid. If they only works once in a while, and you make rationalizations to explain why they does not seem to work very often, then it is probably coincidence. If you belive in God, then you must believe he gave you a brain—so use it.

God/Allah

A man walked into a church and killed an abortion doctor in the name of God. Liberals consider him a heartless, murderer who is indicative of conservative Christians who are out of touch with modern society.

A man man walked into a his job at a military base and killed 13 coworkers in the name of Allah. Liberals consider him a victim of the military establishment who was only acting on his Muslim beliefs.

Pigs or Heroes

What's the difference between a being a soldier or a police officer and being a hero? Getting wounded or killed in the line of duty! When soldiers or police officers do their job properly, they are ignored, looked down upon,  and criticized When they do not do their jobs in the face of danger, they are considered cowards. When they do their jobs in the face of danger, and are wounded or killed. they are considered heroes. About the only way for soldiers or police officers to gain respect in our society is to get wounded or killed in the line of duty.  Soldiers and police officers are either pigs or heroes, and to be considered heroeo, they must die.

Cruel and Unsual Punishment

Britney Spears, and other rockers have joined the National Campaign to Close Guantanamo and are lobbying the White House  to complain about their music being played to prisoners as as an instrument of torture. If this was the military's intention, then the experiment must have been a failure because, if Britney Spear's "music" did not break the terrorists, then nothing will. By the way, why are the rockers concerned about prisoners being forced to listen to their music; why aren't they concerned about us average citizens who are bombarded by their "manufactured music" everywhere we go.

Presidental Concern

On 9/11/01, President Bush was meeting with a group of school children when he was notified of the attack on the twin towers. He showed concern on his face but calmly finished with the children before leaving and later giving an emotional, solemn address to the nation. Liberals criticized him for for years afterward for being a heartless, cold bastard for not leaving immediately after being notified of the attack.

On 11/5/09, President Obama was at a conference to promote his healthcare plan when he was notified of the massacre that had occurred at Fort Hood. He showed concern on his face but calmly finished his agenda before giving an address to the nation. He started his address with a big smile,  thanking everyone at the conference for their efforts, giving a shoutout to a friend, and saying that he would continue the fight for heathcare. Then, as an aside, he mention the massacure, reading his prepared notes with a solemn  face. He looked similar to a network newscaster or President Clinton, switching his mood to fit whatever story he was reading. Liberals praise him for his concern in this troubled time.

Ten Percent

Ever head the saying "We only use 10% of our brain power." Science has proven this wrong—all parts of the brain are always in use. However, some people's brains only have 10% of the brain power available to the average person.

Proficiency Standards

Congress, in its great wisdom, said that all schools in all states must bring all their students up to the proficiency level on the state's reading and math tests by 2014. Nearly a third of the states have been able to easily achieve this— they just lowered their proficiency standards until every student could meet them.

Cowards

On Sunday's 'Curb Your Enthusiasm,' Larry David was taking a "new pill" that caused him to urinate with excessive force. This caused a lot of splash back, some of which ended up on a Jesus painting hanging on the bathroom wall of his pious assistant, who later sees Jesus "crying" and assumes a miracle has taken place. Catholics and other Christians complained. HBO did not apologize. It said that's just the way we are, we make fun of everyone.

Is this true? Do you think they would have made the same scene with David peeing on a picture of Allah. No! Media hypocrites are a bunch of cowards. They only attack those who they know will not fight back. They know outraged Christians will only complain, and not bomb HBO offices.

Benefit

Time Warner, to show its commitment to moving toward more "environmentally friendly" operating practices, gives a "benefit" to customers who switch from paper billing to online billing. What is that benefit; a one dollar "credit" to their account each month. Those who chose not to receive this benefit would have a one dollar "Paper Statement Service Charge" added to their bill each month. So what is the "benefit" you receive for switching to online billing; not getting charged a dollar each month for not switching.

Navy Slogan

The powers that be in the Navy decided it was time for a new Navy slogan, so they paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to an ad agency to recommend one. What did they come up with:
America's Navy: A Global Force for Good
So now the United States Navy is America's Navy. Does this included all of North America and South America, or just our parts of the Americas.

Is the Navy really a force for good? According to a majority of voters in the last national election, the military in general is a force for bad.

This slogan sounds as if it were dreamed up by child from the seventies who thinks of the Navy as a group of "Super Friends." He or she probably also wants to rename the Pentagon to the "Hall of Justice."

Every country in the world will want to cheer when the Navy arrive in their ports, knowing that the global force force for good as arrived. And, as the slogan implies, they should be prepared for the Navy to enforce its version of good upon them.

Twisted Logic

In Bizarro World, a radio commentator, Rush Limbaugh, can be fired from a sportscasting job and prevented from becoming a part owner in a football team because of a disparaging remark he made about one black quarterback. While a politician, Barak Obama, can be elected President and awarded a Nobel Prize for making numerous disparaging  remarks about millions of white Americans and the country in general.

Definition of Bizarro World

Bizarro is a fictional comic book super villain who is the arch nemesis and direct opposite of Superman. Bizarro lives in Bazarro World where twisted logic is commonplace and everything is the opposite of our world; therefore, in Bizarro World, Bizarro is a hero. Our world is seems bizarre sometimes.

Textbook

What if a textbook did not put all exam requirements in the same place? What if had to search the entire book for what you thought were the requirements, and then, once you found what you thought were the correct requirements, you had to out them in order of importance and when they should occurrence? What if, to form a paragraph that told the whole story, you had to search the entire book for what you thought were sentences that belonged in the paragraph, put the sentences in correct order, and then interpret what the completed paragraph meant? What if the requirements were vague and open to interpretation, and were mixed into parables or totally unrelated subjects? What if you were to be tested on what the author of the textbook meant to say, but the textbook, instead of being written by the author, was written by numerous ghost writers who wrote about what they thought the author had said to someone else decades before. What if your score on the final exam would determine if you went to heaven or hell for eternity? There is such a textbook; it is called the Bible.

2012: End of the World

Another end of the world prediction; this time it is because 2012 is the supposed end date of the Mayan calendar. How may times has a predicted end date come and gone and their is still no end in sight? Usually the predictors do not say they were wrong when nothing happens on their end dates, they just say their calculations were wrong and issue a new date, or they say that the end date was not really the end, just the beginning of the end. The only things predictions accomplish is to build the ego of the predictors and enrichen their wallets due to book sales and public appearances. When it end comes, it comes, there is nothing anyone can do about it; so, get a life, and then make something of it.

Nobel Prize

According to the Nobel Committee, it is not what  you are doing or what you have done, it is want you say you are going to do. Apparently, they have no experience dealing with politicians.

Woodstock

I am sick of hearing about Woodstock and how great it was supposed to be. It was just a bunch of drugged out, loser hippies, hippy want be’s, and curiosity seekers. People say it influenced a generation but it only influenced the ones under the influence. People say it showed how all types of people could live in peace and love. Bull! It only lasted a few days. Had it went for another week, things would have been different. The money, drugs, and fun would have run out and people would have been fighting for food and drugs, stealing, and destroying things. A week of cooperation was nothing new. Wars have stopped for a week during truces. For centuries, warring tribes and countries have lived in relative peace for short periods. Almost anyone can coexist with anyone else for a short time. In the years since Woodstock, communal living has been tried many times and the experiments always failed. Woodstock was just a big concert with paid entertainment where people could party for a short time before reality set back in.

Bolt

Usain Bolt sets another world record in the 100 meter dash at the 2009 IAAF world championships. If we believe it when people proclaim that all races are equal, that one race is not superior to another, then why is it that blacks have always been the fastest human runners at all distances?

Second Chance

People say that everyone deserves a second chance, but this is just another old saying that everyone repeats without asking themselves whether it is true or not. Not everyone deserves a second chance, at least not in the same area that caused their first problem. Does a drug user who became addicted to drugs deserve a second chance to try using drugs without becoming addicted. Does your uncle who molested you as a child deserve a second chance by your letting him babysit your children? Completing the sentence imposed by a court does make a person deserving of a second chance. The person must dedicate many years of effort toward earning a second chance; it does not just happen. People who say others deserve a second chance usually have no connection to the person about whom they are speaking. When it is a person who has harmed them, they do not usually agree that the person deserves a second chance; they usually think that the person did not receive enough punishment for the first crime.

Fat Kids

People whined that physical competitive sports hurt the self-esteem and self-confidence of children so they sued until physical education was practically eliminated from schools. Then children began to become fat slugs with all types of health problems. So people told schools to increase their physical education classes. Due to the increase in physical education classes, physical education related injures increased 150% over the last ten years. Of course, the increase was due to there being practically no physical education classes in previous years. Now the lawsuits will increase until physical education is again eliminated . Children need physical activity and they will get injured during physical activity. That’s life. Grow up and accept it. Life is dangerous; in fact, everyone will die from it.

Profiling

It is called racial profiling when whites presuppose blacks will behave a certain way, and whites are condemned if they do it. However, when blacks presuppose whites will behave a certain way, it is excused, and whites are blamed for the blacks thinking this way. It is similar to a man abusing his child and using the excuse that he was abused as a child. Instead of remembering what it was like to be abused by his father and not wanting that to happen to any child, he uses it as an excuse to do the same thing to his own child. If you do not want to be treated a certain manner, then do not behave in that manner.

Stick and Stones

The old saying states, “Sticks and stone may break my bones but words will never hurt me.” Once again, liberals have proved tradition wrong. To liberals, adultery, drug abuse, alcoholism, being inconsiderate, loud, and obnoxious when you are a liberal public figure, showing disrespect to women, and showing complete disrespect to police are excusable actions, but you had better not say anything that is even remotely disrespectful about a minority group or homosexuals. If you listen to hip hop music, you will hear continuous derogatory and hateful comments, which to liberals is okay; they say it is the artists’ right to free speech, does not hurt those to which it is directed, and that music does not affect the behavior of those who hear it. However, they also say you do not have the right to say anything derogatory about minorities or homosexuals since the words could hurt the feelings of those in those groups and that the words could affect the behavior of those who hear them and cause them to do harm to people in those groups. Therefore, if you say anything derogatory about one of those groups, you must be severely punished. Case in point is the recent comment by Hawaii football coach Greg McMackin who, while talking about last year's bowl blowout loss to Notre Dame, called the Irish team dance a "fagot dance." There was media uproar and he was suspended for 30 days. Calling a person who eats meat a murderer, calling Christians hate mongers, calling President Bush an idiot, etc. is okay, just don’t’ call them a fagot.

Racism

Professor Gates says that only Obama could have gotten him to sit down and talk with the police officer he ridiculed. This doesn’t say much for liberal compassion or racial harmony. Only a half-black president can get Gates to be civil. This is racism at its finest.

Loud

lWhy do supposed spokespersons for black people feel the need to be loud, obnoxious, rude, and inconsiderate when dealing with white people? All the white, black, Latino, etc. people I talk with are not that way. Either I only am extremely lucky enough to only deal with people with a higher standard of behavior, or these spokespersons are not really spokespersons at all but are just people trying to exacerbate and exploit every situation for their own glorification.

Proof of Not Believing

Dale Neumann of Wausau, WI, has been charged with second-degree manslaughter for praying for his daughter as she slowly died of diabetes instead of seeking life-saving medical help. His wife has already been convicted of the same offense. His lawyer says there is not a shred of evidence that Neumann knew his prayers would fail to help his daughter or cause her death. How is the state supposed to prove that Neumann knew that his prayers would not work when there is no proof that prayers do work. Using this logic, Neumann could say he believed a doctor from Mars would land his spaceship in his back yard and save his daughter, and, since the state could not prove he did not believe this to be true, Neumann should not be charged with manslaughter. People will believe most anything; radical Muslims believe all Americans are infidels and must die. Does this exonerate them of their killings us?

Hope and Pray

I hear people say “I hope and pray that everything will be okay.” If you believe in prayer, why do you need hope? Hope is a belief that everything will work out for the best. Prayer is asking God to work everything out for the best. If you believe that God will answer your prayer, then there is no need for hope. What would you hope for; that your prayer will be answered.

Racism

Police responded to a call of two black men breaking into a home. They find the front door of the home broken in and a black man, later identified as Henry Louis Gates Jr., a pre-eminent black scholar, inside the home. Gates said he was the owner of the home, had broken in his own door, refused to come outside to speak to the police officer, and immediately began yelling, “Why, because I am a black man in America?” After he kept causing a disturbance, he was arrested. Now every radical black in the country is screaming racism. Had the officers not responded to the call as they did, they would have been accused of racism for not treating the call the same way as they would a call about a white man under the same circumstances. Gates is an ass. Radical blacks would not have any media coverage if they could not find racism in everything thing that happens.

Purple Heart

Purple Heart medal
Florida National Guardsman Sgt. Ernie Rivera who served in Iraq and was awarded two Bronze Stars for heroism thinks he deserves a Purple Heart, which is given to service members who've been wounded or killed in combat. In December 2006, a roadside bomb exploded in his convoy and he received a traumatic brain injury (TBI) that caused him to be hospitalized for six months. While records show that Rivera was totally disabled by the injury, the Army says it can't tell for sure whether the injury came from the roadside bomb that exploded in his convoy because his most severe symptoms didn't surface until weeks after the blast.

Rivera should have asked Senator John Kerry for advice. While in the Vietnam War, Kerry collected Purple Hearts as a hobby; submitting himself for the award every time he received a scratch and then using his collection of awards as justification for being allowed to leave Vietnam eight months early so he could come back home and declare himself a war hero. Rivera's problem is that, as a tough, dedicated soldier, he waited too long to seek help for his severe symptoms. Kerry would have advised him to run to the medics for every little injury to increase the chances of getting an award for the injury.

Rivera should also talk with Senator John McCain for advice on how to exploit his awards for political purposes and book deals. McCain is a master of exploitation of military service.

Genetics

During the Sonia Sotomayor supreme court justice nomination hearings, one of Senator Dick Durbin’s questions to her included the following:
“When we asked questions of the white male nominees of a Republican president, we were basically trying to find out whether -- to make sure that they would go far enough in understanding the plight of minorities, because clearly that was not in their DNA.”
It is a premise of Obamism that white males are genetically predisposed to discrimination. If this is true, then it not their fault that they discriminate, it a genetic defect, and it is discrimination to penalize them for something over which they have no control.

NAACP

The NAACP has launched a program to let people who use their cellphone to capture photos or videos of misconduct to send the images to the NAACP, which would then send a form to the sender to use to submit more information about the incident.  Isn't this great? The NAACP is trying to help reduce crime in the United States. No wait! There is more! The program is only for capturing images of alleged police misconduct, not for people to capture images of the other crimes that permeate the black community. The NAACP is only interested in crimes if they involve the relatively few case of  police misconduct, while they could care less about the crimes that are perpetrated against blacks on a constantl basis. This is mainly because the crimes are committed by blacks against blacks and because the NAACP  knows there will be little retaliation from the police and their supporter,s while they could expect deadly retaliation from the criminals. As usual, the NAACP is more concerned with appearance than taking action that might actually help law abiding blacks who are being victimized.

Death Penalty

North Carolina is considering a Racial Justice Act that would allow judges to throw out the death penalty in a specific case if they found a trend of racial basis in other unrelated cases. This means that a judge could toss out the death penalty ordered for a black man who was convicted without a shadow of doubt of murdering a family of four if the judge thought there had been racial discrimination in other cases involving black defendants. Obamism at work! If it is true that blacks get the death penalty more than whites, then why not argue that more white murderers should get the death penalty. As usual, the argument is not really about racial discrimination, it is about trying to end the death penalty itself.

Dishonor in the ranks

Recently, in Winston-Salem, NC, Phillip James Every, 58, the owner the Karate USA karate school for over 30 years, was sentenced to four years of probation after he pleaded guilty to violating the state's sex-offender registry laws by working at business at which he was responsible for coaching minors. Every stopped teaching at the school after he was convicted in 2001 of indecent liberties with a child, for talking lewdly on the phone with a minor student of his while masturbating, and for assault on a female, for rubbing a student's buttocks, but he returned to teaching karate after he finished probation. At the time, this wasn’t a crime, but in 2006, the state's laws changed to ban sex offenders from coaching or supervising children. The State Bureau of Investigation sent letters to all sex offenders notifying them of the change, but Every kept teaching karate. Karate USA is now closed.

Hate is news, sometimes

Weeks after they have occurred, there is still constant media coverage of the murder of the abortion doctor and about how there is too much hate in the country. However, the murder of the soldier at a recruiting office by a radical Muslim is all but forgotten. Apparently, expressing your religious views by hating and killing those who are in opposition to them is not major news, unless you are expressing Christian views.

Another Myth

Supposedly, high school students must get good grades and perform community service to get them into the best colleges. Maybe it helps, but once they get in college, instead of good grades, less than half of them stay around long enough to get a degree, and community service only consists of public drunken behavior. College students are taught diversity, environmentalism, and why they should vote for and support the liberal agenda, but they are not taught to do what it takes to get a degree and they are not taught how to be responsible citizens.

Good and Bad

Former Secretary of State, General Colin Powell, says that although Michael Jackson’s life was challenged by heavy and extravagant debt, allegations of child abuse, the abuse of drugs, and all types of freakish and deviant behavior, we should forget all that and celebrate his art. Hey, that sounds great! Let’s also celebrate the art of Adolf Hitler, John Wayne Gacy, Richard Ramirez, Henry Lee Lucas and other deviant artists. After all, art transcends deviant behavior, no matter how deviant the artist.

Apparently, Powell, as do others, thinks we should only remember the good people did in their lives, not all the bad they did. This goes back to the belief that your life as a whole should be judged on a balance scale. If all the good you have done is placed on one side of the scale and all the bad you have done is placed on the other, if the good exceeds the bad, then you should be judged to be a good person. The problem comes with the weight that is assigned to each item. For example, people want to assign the selling a record number of music albums more weight than they assign to being being a drug addict or a pervert. People should have the guts to stand up for what is good, if they don’t, sooner or later all that will remain is the bad.

Aging, Retirement, and Health

Many people do not think about aging, retirement, or their health when they are younger, they only seek pleasure for the moment. Then when they get old, want to retire, or get ill, they want others to bail them out. For decades, they spent all their money on having fun with no concern for the future, and now they think taxpayers should help them. They think that people who suffered, saved, and planned throughout their lives so they would be prepared in their later years should help them since they are in need. To this people, I say, "You made you bed, now lie in it."

Get a Life

What does it say about a person when his or her goal in life is to emulate a celebrity, see some celebrity in person, morn some celebrity, etc. You would expect this from a teenager that has no clue what life is about, but when you see adults doing this it tells you that they have no lives of their own so they have to live them vicariously through the lives of public figures or fictional characters.

Poor

The Poor SchoolImage via Wikipedia
Everyone laments about how the poor are lagging behind the rest of the population in car ownership, broadband access, home ownership, health insurance coverage, etc. No shit! That is what poor means. In every society that exists or has ever existed, there is a class structure. No matter how “equal” a class structure is supposed to be, some people will not have as much as others and will consider themselves “poor.” The “poor” in the United States are not lagging behind in smoking, drinking, gold jewelry ownership, and illegal drug use; they always find money to satisfy their vices even if it means they, or their children, must go hungry, which is unlikely since we taxpayers give them food stamps.

Being poor is relative. There are natives living in third world villages who we consider to be poor, while in their villages and cultures they are considered rich. Being poor does mean you break the law or have to live in a filthy house. Many poor people are good, honest people who take pride in what they have, no matter how meager it may be. Being poor merely means you do not have the things others may have and you may have to work harder for what you do have. For most people, being poor is an incentive to do better; for others it is an excuse to do nothing. For most people, poor is state of mind.

Veterans

030902-N-3228G-003 Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (Sept....Image via Wikipedia
We see headlines that say “Veteran groups want alleged torture photos released,” “Veteran groups support Obama’s war polices,”  “Veteran groups are against war,” etc. Who are these veterans?

Unofficially, anyone may claim to be a veteran. Officially, a veteran is a person who:
  • served on active duty for other than training for a period of more than 180 days and was discharged with other than a dishonorable discharge;  or
  • was discharged because of a service-connected disability; or
  • as a member of a reserve component served, under orders, on active duty during a period of war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge is authorized and was discharged or released from such duty with other than a dishonorable discharge.
A Dishonorable Discharge (DD) is a punitive discharge that may only be awarded to an enlisted member by a General Court-Martial for a serious offense, such as desertion, sexual assault, or murder, for which a dishonorable discharge was part of the sentence. All veterans' benefits are lost.

The other types of discharges are:
  • Honorable Discharge. A honorable discharge indicates the person met or exceeded the required standards of duty performance and personal conduct.
  • General Discharge. A general discharges indicates the person’s performance was satisfactory, but was marked by a considerable departure in duty performance and conduct expected of military members. General discharges are always preceded by some form of nonjudicial punishment for unacceptable behavior.
  • Other Than Honorable (OTH) Discharge, An OTH indicates the person had a serious departure from the conduct and performance expected of all military members. An OTH is typically given for conviction by a civilian court in which a sentence of confinement was adjudged or in which the conduct leading to the conviction brought discredit upon the service. Most veteran benefits are not available to those who receive an OTH discharge.
  • Bad Conduct Discharge (BCD). A BCD is a punitive discharge that can only be given by a court-martial as punishment to an enlisted service-member. They are often preceded by a period of confinement in a military prison. Virtually all veterans' benefits are forfeited by a BCD.
Therefore, veterans are not all created equal. A veteran may be a decorated war hero or a slug that was discharged after six months for assaulting an officer. When you hear about what some veteran or veteran group has said, you should consider the if the speakers really are veterans, and, if they are, what kind of veteran they are.

Double Standard

One woman made an Electolux commercial where she portrayed a super mom who could work all day and still do all her motherly home chores with a smile, and she was criticized for reinforcing the invisible jobs women are supposed to continue even though they work 40 hours a week. Another woman produces and stars in her own one hour medical drama where each week she portrays a chief nurse who can do everything in a hospital with a smile and still be a single super mom at home, and, even thought the show is a flop, she is still praised for her work. One of the women is Jada Pinkett Smith is and the other is Kelly Rippa. Guess which one is criticized and which one is praised, and why.

Kessler Syndrome

Do you enjoy satellite television, high-speed communications, GPS, satellite weather forecasts, not having space debris land on your head, etc? It may all come to an end. The Kessler Syndrome describes the scenario where satellites hit other satellites or space debris producing more debris that strikes other satellites and so on until low earth orbit (LEO) is so cluttered that satellite use and space travel become impossible and space debris begins falling on populated areas. On February 10, 2009, Iridium 33, a 12-foot-long, 1200 pound communication satellite and Kosmos 2251, a 1-ton Russian military satellite collided 500 miles above Siberia at 26,000 mph generating a debris cloud that spread around the earth in just a few hours. As more and more debris build up in space, more collisions will take place until the Kessler Syndrome takes effect and the use of space comes to an end.

College Degrees

Half of the colleges that grant bachelor degree graduate fewer than 50% of their students. This means that most people are spending a lot of money on college and incurring lots of debt and have nothing to show for it. In an effort to graduate more students, many colleges lessen their requirements, which means that many of those that do graduate are still ignorant.

Pick and Choose

Some refer to biblical verses that condemn homosexuality while they ignore similar verses that condemn such things as wearing clothes made of two types of cloth or eating shellfish. To justify their beliefs, some say there are moral laws in the Bible, which never change, and other types of laws in the Bible, which can change. However, the Bible does not make these distinctions.

In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, "Till heaven and earth pass, not one jot or one tittle shall pass from the law," and he condemned those would break "one of these least commandments …" Apparently Jesus gave all the laws equal importance.

Some believe that Christianity supplanted the Mosaic Law, but there is no place in the Bible that says it only supplanted certain Mosaic laws and not others. Quoting biblical verses to condemn homosexuals or other people or behaviors with which you do no agree, while ignoring other verses that condemn behaviors in which you participate is hypocrisy.

Idiots and the Mentally Ill

Idiots said it was cruel to keep the mentally ill confined in mental hospitals, so they passed laws that released them to the streets. Then the same idiots took up the cause to end the homelessness that they had caused. Many of these released patients committed crimes and were put in prisons. The idiots then complained that the mental ill prisoners are not receiving proper treatment for their mental illnesses, the treatment that they had been receiving in hospitals before being turned out on the streets. Why can’t idiots just quietly live their own lives; why do they constantly feel the need to force their idiocy upon the rest of us? I guess it is a symptom of being an idiot.

Hate Crimes

In Jena, Louisiana, after Obamanites made the case a national cause, five black members of the Jena Six pleaded no contest to misdemeanor simple battery in the beating of white man simply because he was white and were sentenced to seven days unsupervised probation and fined $500. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to the outcome would have been had six whites attacked one black man.

Medal of Honor

The Medal of Honor is supposed to be difficult to receive, thus a person must demonstrate bravery "conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his [or her] life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States." However, since the Vietnam War, apparently another requisite for receiving the medal is that you be dead. For military actions that have occurred since United States forces withdrew from Vietnam in 1973, the Medal of Honor has been awarded eight times, all of them posthumously. If you perform an act of extraordinary bravery and live, you are awarded a lesser medal.

Appalling

When author Ann Coulter appeared on Bill O'Reilly's television program this week to discuss the murder of late-term abortionist Dr. George Tiller, she stated:
"I don't really like to think of it as a murder. It was terminating Tiller in the 203rd trimester."
As usual, people were all over the media discussing how this statement was appalling and disgusting. In their eyes, the statement is disgusting but terminating viable babies in the third trimester is commendable. Data from 2003 show that 6.2% of abortions were conducted during 13 to 15 weeks of gestation, 4.2% from 16 to 20 weeks, and 1.4% at or after 21 weeks. In 1997, the Guttmacher Institute estimated that, in the United States, the number of abortions performed past 24 weeks of gestation to be approximately 1,032 per year. Apparently, killing babies is okay but making a statement comparing the killing of babies to the killing of a baby killer is appalling.

What do we tell our children now?

We used to tell our children,“Do what is right because just one mistake could ruin the rest of your life.” However, this is no longer true. A case in point is Michel Jackson. His being a perverted, child molesting, freak who turned himself into a clown is overlooked because people who live in the past only want to remember about the good times they were having when they were listening to his music, not his perversions. They talk about his artistry as though his perversions never existed. It is similar to the way some talk about how great serial killer John Wayne Gacy’s paintings are, and the way he made children happy by dressing as a clown. People overlook Jackson’s perverted treatment of children and his freakish behavior because of his “contribution to the pop music.” The headline in today’s’ newspaper said Jackson “was a legend who helped shape a generation.” This is true! Thanks to him, two or three generations of young boys learned what it was like to be “touched” by legend. Jackson’s behavior says a lot about him as a person, but the public’s reaction to his behavior says a lot about them. Thanks to Michael Jackson and his ilk, we now have to tell our children, “Do what is right, unless you become a celebrity; then you can do whatever you want and it will be overlooked.”

Apology

There are some who want an apology from Congress for its part in slavery 200 years ago. Why don’t they issue an apology to the Indians for Columbus coming to America? Why don’t they issue an apology to Mexico for taking Texas from them? Why don’t they issue an apology to the Chinese for using them to build railroads? Some people’s lives are so mundane that the only way they can find purpose in them is to dwell in the distant past. Since they have no skills or ambition to change the present or affect the future, they live under the delusion that they can change the past. Since most people know the past cannot be changed and do not worry about it, it give these misfits free reign to carry out their idiocy. They should learn from past mistakes and then move forward instead of backward.

Get a life

On October 10, 1809, Meriwether Lewis, of the famed Lewis and Clark expedition of 1804, died of gunshot wounds. He had no children, yet today, about 200 very distant relatives want the National Park Service to allow them to exhume his body to see if there is any evidence as to whether his death was suicide or murder. These people need to get a life, and then maybe they would not have to live in the past.

Eco Idiots

Everything is green. People think that if they buy green it will save the world. Ads and labels proclaim how products are eco-friendly or biodegradable under the guidelines issued by the Federal Trade Commission in 1992. However, no one is insuring the ads and labels are truthful. Since May 2000, the FTC has taken legal action against only three companies for breaking the guidelines and those all occurred on the same day, June 9, 2009, the day Congress began hearings about environmental marketing.

When everyone does a little bit for the environment, it adds up to a small, insignificant improvement. However, if everyone made major changes in their lifestyles to improve the environment, major, significant improvements could be made. The problem is that major changes mean giving up things we enjoy, while small changes, even though they mean little improvement to the environment, make us feel good about ourselves as we go about our daily lives damaging the environment in other major ways.

Work Ethic

Our society has created a nation of leeches who think they are entitled to everything and should not have to work or fight to earn or keep it. They think that everything should come to them; they should not have to work for it. Fighting for our freedom got us where we are but people now think that fighting to protect the freedom is wrong, especially if they might have to do the fighting. I’ve had employees question why they did not get a raise or a promotion, especially since they come to work on time everyday and do their job. I tell them that is why they still have the job; it does not make them worthy of promotion. You are eligible for a new position once you can do the work required of that position or have proven that you are capable of quickly learning to do it and doing it well. You do not get rewarded for doing the minimums; you get rewarded for doing much more than the minimums. In the Navy, I had sailors who volunteered for the Navy for all the benefits it offered, but, when they realized they might have to fight in war and may get injured or killed, they wanted out. When you have a society that will bail you out when you fail and give you free food, shelter, clothing, and medical care, what is the incentive to do more?

Endangered

Human males are endangered. During this recession, 80% of them lost their jobs. The jobs they do hold are some of the most dangerous, as opposed to the less dangerous jobs that females hold. During the six-year-old Iraq War, 98% of the injured and killed are male. Many of the injured have permanent life altering injuries. Since no one wants to be accused of harming a woman’s ability to have children or harming any possible children they may have, medical testing is usually conducted using males. Males live an average of five years less than females. Males, especially white males, are blamed for every problem ever faced by humans since the dawn of time.

Why not do your best?

In his autobiography Why Not the Best? President Jimmy Carter tells about his interview with Admiral Hyman Rickover, the father of the nuclear Navy, who served on active duty until he was 83 years old. Admiral Rickover personally interviewed every prospective nuclear officer and he made the interviews tough on the novice officers.

When President Carter had his interview, the Admiral asked him what his standing was in his graduating class at the Naval Academy. President Carter said "I swelled my chest with pride and answered, sir, I stood 59th in a class of 820!" and then I sat back to wait for the congratulations.

Instead of congratulations, the Admiral asked, "Did you do your best?" President Carter said he started to answer, "Yes sir," but he thought about who he was talking to, gulped, and admitted, "No sir, I didn’t always do my best." President Carter said the Admiral just looked at him for the longest time and then asked only one more question, which the President said he has never been able to forget, and which he was never able to answer—the Admiral asked, "Why not?"

Grass is Greener

When you look over your fence at your neighbor’s yard, it looks so lush and green. When you look down at your own yard, it has small dead spots and weeds. However, when you walk around in your neighbor’s yard, you see it also has small dead sports and weeds. If you look back toward your own yard, it now looks lush and green. It’s only a matter of perspective.
Many people in the United Sates look at European countries as being so much better than America and say we should emulate them. However, people around the world are clamoring to immigrate to the United States, not to these European countries. When you look more closely at other countries, you see they have the same number of problems as we do, sometimes more. Stop trying to emulate others and celebrate what you are.

Moral Dilemma

When people ask me my opinion on what they should do about some moral dilemma, I tell them that they already know the answer. If they have morals, they already know what they should do; it just that doing the right thing is difficult sometimes and they are trying to get out of doing it by getting someone else to tell them it is okay not to do it. If they do not have morals, then they would not be asking someone what they should do since they would not be having a moral dilemma.

Excuses

It seems the norm nowadays is to make excuses for failure. In the military, we do not want to hear excuses. If you fail, commanders only want to know what happened, how quickly it can be fixed, and how to insure it will not happen again—not why it was no your fault that it happened. Rarely occurring fixable mistakes are allowed, otherwise, there may be repercussions later, either in performance evaluations or promotions, or possibly by receiving non-judicial or judicial punishment. There is no time for excuses during war, the job must get done and done quickly. If you do it right the first time, there will be no need for excuses.

Play Hard — Work Hard

I constantly hear people say that, while they play hard, they also work hard. However, this only the opinion of the person saying it. The opinion of the one that matters is the person’s employer. While the person may play hard and still be able to work harder than some other employees, the question for an employer is, “Would this person be able to work even harder if he or she did not play so hard?” As an employer, I want employees that do their best and get the job done the best it can be done in a cost effective and timely manner. After that, they can play as hard as they wish. In my experience, many of those who play hard do not work as hard as they could or should.

Murder

For centuries, the crime of murder has been defined as the willful, deliberate, and premeditated killing of a person. For you be convicted of first degree murder, it must be proven that you killed with the intention to kill. Contrary to what is depicted on television shows, motive is not required for conviction. Now some want to make motive an element of the crime. They think that the murder’s feelings about the victim should be an element of the crime. They think that murder should be a greater crime if the killer hates the victim; that a hating killer is worse than a loving killer.

Not only to these people think that motive should be considered, these people think that they should be the ones to pick which motives are worse than others. For example, they consider killing a person because of his or her sexual orientation or race is worse than killing a person because of his or her job or weight. To them, if you kill a person because he or she is homosexual, it is worse than killing a person because he or she is ugly. Then, if you do not agree with their opinion, you are labeled as a homophobe or a racist.

Money for Schools

Governments always want more money for schools. Think back, during your lifetime, no matter your age, you will remember the government saying that public education is failing our children and that, if we only spend more money on education, it will improve. This usually means building more schools and raising teach salaries. The premise being that a child learns better in new school named after a benefactor, and that a child especially learns better if the teacher is highly paid. Well, that has worked out great over the last two hundred years hasn’t it?

North Carolina started a lottery. To get it approved, they said all the profits would go toward education. How has that worked out? It hasn’t; there are still pleas about needing more money for education. The lottery money was not used in addition to what was already being spent on education; it only replaced a portion of it. The money that would have normally been spent on education was then freed for pork barrel spending.
Money for education is merely a political ploy to fool the voters; voters who, due to the education system, apparently are under educated and easily fooled.

Faith

I hear an evangelist saying that we cannot prove man walked on the moon, that we can only have faith that we are being told the truth. He said that the word of 14 men who said they walked on the moon, the thousands of photographs, the millions of dollars of equipment that still exists, the moon soil and rocks, the word or thousands of NASA employers, etc. are not proof that man walked on the moon. He says that those who believe we did are just relying upon faith that it is true. This should also apply to his believing that the Bible is the true word of God. Although there is ample proof that man walked on the moon, there is proof that the Bible is the word of God —other than, it says it is.

The followers of Heaven’s Gate had faith that the mother ship was behind the Hale Bopp comet as it passed near the earth and that the ship was coming to take them home. They had so much faith that they committed mass suicide to travel to the ship. Radical Muslims have so much faith that they will be rewarded after death if they kill infidels that they are willing to kill themselves in the process of killing non-believers. These groups seem to have more faith than Christians since they believe so much in their faiths that they are willing to die for them.

The faithful do not need proof that they are right and there can never be enough proof to prove them wrong.

Tax a Right

According to Obama, it is the right of every American to have affordable health care insurance. Then Obama wants to tax any health care benefits you may receive from your employer. Apparently, he thinks rights are something to be taxed. First he tells you must have it whether you want it or not, and then he taxes it. Just wait until he taxes your right to worship or your right to speak against him.

North Carolina Democrats

Democrats have been in control of North Carolina for decades. Mike Easley, the democrat governor until last January, is under investigation for numerous allegation of using taxpayer money for personal gain. In 2005, during his term as governor, a job was created at N. C. State University for his wife, Mary. The job cobbled together four part-time roles where she was to create and direct a public safety center, run a speakers series, coordinate law-related academic programming, and teach half a class each semester. Last year the university even gave her an 88% raise. Due to fallout from how the governor and school officials collaborated on creating and giving her the job, the chancellor, provost, and chairman of the board of trustees have all resigned, but Mary still refused to resign. Now that communications have been found that show how the governor and university officials conspired to create the job, the university has finally fired her. Now we taxpayers an count on her suing the school and using up more taxpayer money. She needs to take Obama’s lead and apologize, and then offer reparations to the state.

Appalled

18-year-old Jem Lugo recently graduated from Springstead High School with a 3.98 GPA and will be attending Harvard in the fall. She is also the valedictorian of her class so delivered a speech at graduation. However, she did not get to deliver the speech she wanted to. When she submitted her original draft to Principal Susan Duval, she was told to "start over" and the senior class sponsor was “appalled” at the speech.

What was so appalling? What did she say?  A few examples:
"We survived 13 grueling years of school, all for this moment, where we get to wear gowns that kind of remind me of a silk version of a Snuggie, and these hats that make every single one of us look absolutely ridiculous. Hate to break it to you, but no one looks good in these hats. Even you, Ben Noury."

"First off, get money. You can't do anything without money. Do something with your life where you're able to have a steady, reliable, source of income. Gamers, I'm sorry, but farming for gold in World of Warcraft is not considered a RELIABLE, or socially-acceptable source of income."

"But, the most important thing that I can tell you tonight is to remember where you came from. You were an eagle once. We've been through four long years here. Some of us have loved it, some of us have hated it, but we all had to endure it, and for all of us, it's finally over. What's Springstead going to be like without us?"
Principal Duval, who has been fined for plagiarizing graduation speeches that she made, said the speech was too real. She said she understood Lugo's aim for originality but warned the speech might offend some.

Sex Education

Apparently, humans are the only animals that must have sex education to be able to have sex and promulgate the species. Children graduate from high school not knowing how to comprehensively read so they believe convoluted writings, not knowing how to write a paragraph that make any sense so they cannot put their thoughts to words, not knowing basic arithmetic so they conned by bad mortgagees and fraudulent money making schemes,  not knowing how to speak clearly, concisely, and correctly so they are unable to articulate their ideas, and knowing little about United States or world history, basic economics, politics, or science. However, they do know about deviant sexual conduct.

AIDS

Millions of dollars are spent on AIDS education. What do you need to know about AIDS? It is a deadly disease. If you do not engage in promiscuous, unprotected sex (especially of the anal variety) and it you do not share needles (as in using illegal drugs), your chance of acquiring AIDS is miniscule. That’s it! So, why are millions spent on AIDS education? To make the educators rich and to excuse the behavior that causes AIDS to spread.

Too young, too old

When young people commit crimes, people say they are too young to be responsible for their actions since the brains have not developed enough to make rational decisions. However, when young people need abortions, birth control, or treatment for things such as AIDS, people say they are old enough to make r decisions about their own lives without parental permission. When old people make the wrong financial decisions, people say they are too old to make rational decisions about their lives sin their brains have slowed down and their thinking has become faulty. However, when it comes to being a politician or a judge, it appears one can never be too old to make decisions about the lives of others.

The way things work out

The indoor coil on my original equipment 12-year-old air-conditioning unit is leaking. It would cost about $1,400 to replace it, but then I would still have the old system to deal with. It will cost about $4,900 to replace the entire A/C system with a modern heat pump, using the old attached natural gas furnace as a backup heating source. If I replace the furnace with a new high efficiency unit, I get a $300 rebate from the gas company and qualify for a $1,500 federal tax credit, so for an extra $600 I can get a new furnace. Without the furnace, I would not qualify for the $1,500 federal tax credit.

Inclusion

A local Christian church near a high school held a baccalaureate ceremony to honor graduating Christian seniors who were graduating from the school. Some parents of school graduates complained that students of other religions should have been included in the ceremony. I guess they thought Jews or Muslims should have been honored at a Christian ceremony. Some other local baccalaureate ceremonies were held for black students, no one complained that no white students were at the ceremonies. White Christians must include everyone in everything they do; whereas everyone else may exclude anyone.

Baldness

Here are some problems that occur in the Human Manufacturing Department of Heaven.
On the head assembly line, the motto is “Don’t worry about mistakes, just cover them with hair!”

In the head engineering division, engineers many times want to add more brains to some heads, without changing the overall structure of the skull. They have found that if they design some skulls to allow the brain to grow larger by pushing out hair roots, they can increase the intelligence of these heads.

In the head engineering division, they found that hair growth is controlled by the contents of the skull. It is similar to grass growing much thicker over the cesspool in a yard. Hair that grows on a skull with a brain that is full of shit grows much thicker.

Engineers also found that energy saved in one area may be used in another area. Thus, the energy saved by not growing hair may be used for thinking.

More Freedom of Speech

In the United States, you have the freedom to behave any legal way you wish to behave. You may cover yourself with tattoos or piercings, you may wear outrageous clothing, you may party like an animal, you may choose to be homeless, you may eat until you are obese, etc. However, just don’t say or do anything that upsets the status quo.
There are two classes of people in the United Sates: the lords and serfs. Each class has freedom of speech amongst its members as it applies to the class. Therefore, the lords have freedom of speech amongst themselves, and the serfs have freedom of speech amongst themselves. However, the lords have freedom of speech over the serfs, while, the serfs are condemned for any speaking against the lords. The lords allow you freedom as long as you don’t interfere with their lives or challenge their elite status as the standard setters of what is best for themselves and the serfs. If you question their authority, they will attack you, ostracize you,  and drive you out of the village.

Freedom of Speech

Why is it that when a white person criticizes a black person, he is called racist; but when a black person criticizes a white person, she said to be exercising her freedom of speech? Why is it that when a man criticizes a woman, he is called sexist; but when a woman criticizes a man, it is said that she is only stating a fact? Why is it that when whites complain about illegal immigrants, they are considered to be insensitive isolationists; but when blacks complain about illegal immigrants, they are considered to be concerned citizens? It appears that freedom of speech and personal opinions are only applicable to the elitists who think they have all the answers; the great-unwashed masses are just a bunch of uneducated, unenlightened idiots.

Government Controlled Behavior

We in the United States think we have the freedom to behave as we wish as long as it does not break any laws. But is this true? The government actually controls our behavior in ways most people have not considered.

One way the government controls your behavior is through taxes. It controls your charitable behavior by giving you tax breaks only if you donate to government approved charities. It controls your buying behavior by giving you tax breaks only if you buy certain vehicles, appliances, etc., and sometimes it taxes you more if your buy things they do not want you to buy, such as certain luxury items, and things such as alcohol and tobacco.

The government controls how your think by controlling what is taught in public schools, which influences the behavior of students. Some of these government-educated students then become college professors who teach college students what they have been taught by their government-influenced professors. Then some of these students become teachers and professors and keep propagating the government teachings.
The government controls your behavior by making laws and setting punishments for not obeying the laws. If the government does not think a certain behavior is appropriate, it can make the behavior illegal and punish you for doing it; it can even execute you. Some behaviors are generally accepted by society as being inappropriate, such as larceny, assault, and murder, but the government can outlaw any behavior it deems appropriate.

If you value your freedom, be careful about who you vote into office because—they will be influencing your behavior and that of your children.

Human Abilities

Some think humans cannot do anything; while others think humans are responsible for everything. The ones who think humans are incapable of achieving anything say that all our innovations and technology have come from alien intervention. They say that aliens mated with early humans, they built pyramids etc., and that most of our technological advances have come from our backward engineering of captured alien spaceships. The ones who think humans are all powerful blame humans for everything that has happened since we first walked upright, such as animal extinctions and global warming. Both groups are wrong. As with other life forms, humans are only a minuscule part of the cosmos. We are capable of permanently affecting our lives, but not the earth or the cosmos. Any damage done to the earth by humans will be healed as time go on. It may mean that we become extinct, but that is the way of things; something will replace us.

Know the Community

Many immigrants come to this county for its benefits and, while remembering their home counties, they become Americans. Other immigrants come to America and promptly set up neighborhoods where they live just as they did in their former countries. We have idiots who, instead of expecting these  immigrants to learn and practice American mores and assimilate into our society, expect neighbors, law enforcement, and other government agencies to get to know immigrant communities and then change their way of doing things to accommodate the immigrants. Are these immigrants Americans, or, are they just foreigners who live in the United States?

Issues

If you listen to people speak, it would appear that we no longer have problems; we have issues. One issue I have is people using the word “issue” when “problem” is the correct word to use.

Health Care

What are people responsible for in their lives? Nowadays, they are not held responsible for their babies; they can abort them or abandon them at a fire station with no consequences—they may not even be frowned upon for their “choices.” They are not held responsible for their children; the public pays for their education, food, and clothing. They are not held responsible for their actions; an abused childhood , peer pressure, or drug abuse made them do it—they are just victims. They are not even held responsible for their own heath care. How is it that people can afford things that adversely affect their heath, such as cigarettes, alcohol, illegal drugs, and lots of food (judging from their obesity), but they cannot afford health care. They can afford gold jewelry, gold teeth, designer clothing and shoes, and expensive vehicles, but they cannot afford health insurance. Should we also provide them with long-term care, life insurance, car insurance, home insurance, etc? When do people become responsible for their own decisions and choices in life?

Inhumane Tuition

In North Carolina, colleges must accept illegal immigrant students. Not only that, they may even qualify for in state tuition rates; the different in tuition costs is paid for by citizen taxpayers. It is considered “inhumane” to prevent non-citizen lawbreakers from getting a college education at taxpayer expense. I was born and raised in NC, served the Navy for 26 years, retired from the Navy, and came back to NC. You would think I would be eligible for in-state tuition; but no, I had to live in the state for a year before becoming eligible—the same as for non-citizen illegal immigrant criminals.

What to do when caught doing something illegal

  • Say you know nothing about it.
  • Deny doing it.
  • Say you do not remember it.
  • Say you were misinformed or lied to.
  • Say you have been accused due to your race, gender, religion, sexual preference, political party affiliation, etc.
  • Say you are being framed.
  • Say you have moved on to more important issues.
  • Say you look forward to a trial to prove your innocence.
  • Hire a lawyer to lie for you to the press and public.
  • Plead not guilty at the trial.
  • When found guilty, say you are sorry and beg for forgiveness.
  • Say you were wrongly convicted, and fight the conviction through appeals.
  • After serving the time, go about your business the same as before as if nothing had happened—until caught again. Then repeat the process.
  • Use political influence, to get a presidential pardon.

Student Loans

People whine about the hardship of repaying student loans, what a bunch of crap. In North Carolina, for state resident to attend NC State University it costs $17,000 a year for everything, tuition, room, books, transportation, etc.—everything. A part-time job during the school year and during the summer break will pay for most if not all of this. Then people say, “The school I want to attend costs much more than that.” Too bad, we all want something we cannot afford. Live within your means.

If you do not have the money to attend full-time college, then attend part-time. Alternatively, work, save your money, and then pay cash for college. You could also join the military. I earned an AA, BA, MA, and MS and it did not cost me anything but time and effort— the Navy paid for all of it.

You do what you need to do to achieve your goals. If you are not willing to make the sacrifice, then at least have the dignity not to whine about your situation.

Troubled Past

Why does it seem that every Hollywood celebrity has had a troubled past? It seems they all have either, been sexually molested, been abused as a child, been addicted to something, or have suffered from depression or other mental illness. Is this a prerequisite for becoming an actor?

Ghostwritters

How do celebrities, sports stars, politicians, etc. find the time to research and write the books they publish? That’s an easy question; the answer is—they don’t. They don’t do the research; they don’t even do the writing. If you look closely you will find most of these books were ghostwritten; someone else wrote the book and then the well-know personality’s name goes on the cover as being the writer.

Sometimes the ghostwriters will receive partial credit, signified by the phrase "with..." or "as told to..." on the cover, or as a "thank you" in a foreword or introduction. For nonfiction books, the ghostwriter may be credited as a "contributor" or a "research assistant.” Many times the ghostwriter receives no official credit in the book, and may even be asked to sign a nondisclosure contract that forbids him or her from revealing his or her ghostwriting role.

The personality who is the credited author gets publicity, notoriety, fame, and royalties from the sale of book, and the ghostwriter get pittance. Many times the credited author is an idiot who can’t form an original thought or write a complete sentence. If you listen to their publicity interviews, many times they do not even know what is in their books. Yet, there are millions of fools who buy these books and praise the virtues of the credited authors, even though they did not write the books. A fool and his money are soon parted.

Loser

If you are a loser—one who has never accomplished anything in your life—then don’t worry. All you have to do is pick some national event and create a conspiracy theory to explain it. Just look for anything that may support your theory and reject all evidence that reputes it by saying the evidence itself is a part of the conspiracy. Then start a web site devoted to your theory and, presto, you are no longer a loser—you are an expert on the subject.

Prayer

A child is dying of a disease. The family prays to God for the child to be cured or the disease. If the child is cured and lives, it is the answer to the prayers—a miracle. If the family believed that God could and would answer their prayers, then it is not a miracle; it is simply God answering their prayers.
If the child dies of the disease, the family says it was God’s will that the child died. If God was going to do his will no matter whether the family prayed or not, then the prayers were useless.
If the child dies of the disease and the family believes God may be swayed by prayer, then he must not have wanted to answer their prayer. Maybe they were being punished or maybe there were not enough prayers. On the other hand, not enough people prayed; maybe if just one more person had prayed, the child would have lived.

Tough People

When tragedy strikes an area, leaders, media, and other people are always talking about how tough the people who were affected the tragedy are during the difficult times. When a wildfire burns a subdivision or a river floods a city, we hear about how heroic the people are in that area and how they will rebuild. For us to say that the people in an area are tough, it must mean that there are people in some other area who are not so tough, or—weaker. Where are these weak people located?

People like to be told they are tough, but are they really tougher than people in other areas, or is it just that all living things do whatever they can to insure their survival and to come back from disaster. People in one area are no tougher than people anywhere—they are just people.

Hypocrites

Ever notice how people are always telling your how to do things that they tell you that you should not do. They tell you how to dress to impress people, and then they tell you that you should not judge people by how they dress. They tell you how to diet and get physically fit, and then they tell you that you should accept yourself for what you are. They tell you how to use makeup and plastic surgery to make yourself look beautiful, and then they tell you should not let the way a person looks affect your opinion of them. They tell you not to use drugs while their smoking and drinking tells you that it must be okay to do.

Tasteful Porn

After topless photographs of Carrie Prejean, Miss California USA, surfaced, Donald Trump, owner of the Miss USA pageant, decided she could retain her Miss California USA crown, even though she had failed to disclose the photographs when entering the pageant. Trump said that in today’s society the photographs weren’t considered indecent, that they were “lovely.” Is really that today’s society has lowered its moral standards, or it just that Trump is now an old letch that thinks that nude photographs of teenage girls are lovely.

Caring and Money

Some people think they can save the world. They think that if we all just care about a problem and spend money on it, it will go away. Of course what—we—should care about is what—they—care about, and the money they want to spend is—your—money, whether you want to spend the money or not. These people think that things that have existed since mankind began, such as starvation, homelessness, disease, etc., may be eliminated if we only care about them and spend money on them. If you do not care about these causes and support them, then you are an enemy of the causes and must be attacked and eliminated. If you do not care about giving special consideration to homosexuals, then you are a homophobe. If you do not support giving money to starving counties in Africa, then you are racist. Nothing these people, or their predecessors over the centuries, have done has eliminated, or even significantly reduced these things, but that does not stop their quest for utopia. Their “caring” makes them feel good about themselves, and that is all that matters.

When Elizabeth Edwards appeared on the Oprah television show to promote her book and was asked about her response to learning her husband had been having an affair, Elizabeth replied, "If you take that piece out, I do have a perfect marriage." So, other than her husband having a secret, ongoing affair with an employee while she was battling cancer, the woman having his child, the woman still working with her husband, him still visiting the woman, him paying the woman hush money, and him lying to her and the public about the affair while he was running for president, they have a perfect marriage. Miracle

In Arcadia, MO 3-year-old Joshua Childers was found safe and uninjured in the Mark Twain National Forest after being lost in the cold, wet forest for 2 days after wandering away from home. Madison County Sheriff David Lewis said searchers had been growing increasingly pessimistic about their chances of finding Joshua alive. He figured 3 days was about the limit for the boy's survival in the wild without food and water. "It's a miracle," Lewis said.

To summarize, 3 days would be the limit for the boy’s survival and hundreds were searching for him. He was found after 2 days by a searcher and it is considered a miracle. If the boy had been found after 30 days by a hiker just wandering by, then you might call it miracle, but working toward an achievable outcome and achieving the outcome is not a miracle. The word miracle is used to too freely and too much.

Mother’s Day

Mother’s are excused for actions they take as mothers, such as killing their husbands who were abusing their children. However, the motherland is condemned for waterboarding a couple of men who either took part in the slaughter of thousands on 9/11 or have vowed to do the same and who have information about others who would do the same. Even though mother's kill their children, we celebrate the commercialized Mother’s Day, while also condemning the motherland for pouring water on the faces of a few enemy during a time of war.

Evolution

Christians believe the Bible is the written word of God. In the Bible, God created man by forming him from the dirt of the earth and breathing life into him. For thousands of years, this was their core belief. These creationists fought evolution at every turn, saying it was a theory put forth by Satan to discredit God. As evolution became more widely accepted and more and more proof of its existence was discovered, the creationists found it more difficult to support their version of creation so they became proponents of intelligent design, which proposes that, although life did evolve, it was initiated by God and was guided by God as an evolving process. Where is intelligent design in the Bible—the word of God? The Bible still says God created a man in one day, not as a process over millions of years.

Now that his acting career is has stagnated, he is suddenly proud to be gay. Was he not proud during his most active acting years? Should I be proud to be straight, to be male, or to be human? People complain that we are using up the planet’s food, water, forests, and other resources, and that cities are expanding and using up too much land. If you love the planet as much as you say, quit having children.

Looking Down

People are always talking about how their deceased loved ones are looking down on them. A basketball player talks about how his mother always wanted the best for him and how he knows she was looking down on him as his team won the game. If deceased loved ones are able to look down on your life, then they are able to look down on your life all the time, not just when you want them to. That means the mother was also looking down on the ballplayer the night before the game when he was having sex with prostitute and smoking crack. It seems to be a human trait to create things that make them feel good and excuse their actions,  even when the things are illogical, unreasonable, improvable, and stupid.

oAs reported in the March 2009 issue of Discover, researchers who surveyed 20 students found that responsible, conscientious people live 2 to 4 year longer than average. Does anybody believe this finding? Apparently, the researchers were able to determine this finding about a person’s entire life from a sample of just 20 students using a survey that only lasted a few minutes. This is the type of misinformation that misleads the public and causes it to distrust science.

MIT

MIT, Minnesota Institute of Technology, opened  new Dali Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values, to be managed by a Buddhist monk. No other major science research institution in the U.S. has a center named for a contemporary religious leader. At the dedication, the Dali Lama said, “The majority of the 6 billion people on earth, I think, we can categorize as non-believers. So we must find a way to promote ethics and values with these non-believers. We need promotion of secular ethics through education.” Apparently, if you are not a Buddhist you are considered a non-believer and must be indoctrinated. Where is the outrage in the media, in the ACLU, and amongst celebrities? Racism

Everyone acknowledges that differences in the genetic makeup of the races accounts for a particular race being more or less susceptible to certain diseases, being more or less susceptible to climate extremes, and having certain physiological and psychological differences. In fact, each race exploits its differences to its best advantage. If a race has some genetic disease, then they press for a cure for the disease, even though it only affects the one race. However, if you speak about there being intellectual differences between the races, you are called a racist. While everything else about races may vary, intellect is considered equal throughout all the races. Evolution may account for all the other differences between races but apparently evolution has no affect upon intellect.

Birds of a feather

As the old saying states,”Birds of a feather flock together.” Animals and people tend to migrate to groups with like interests; that is the way life works. Watch large groups of people who are just milling around and they will begin to form small groups composed of people with like interests. People first find their groups by looking at those with a like outward appearance, which give clues as to a person’s culture, sport interest, hobby, job, and race. Military people will congregate with those of their service, college people will congregate by fraternity or club, gang members will congregate by gang, etc. At first, some people may congregate by race, but as time goes by, they tend to refine their choices and find groups with specialized interests, regardless of race. However, some people with no specialized interests may stay with their racial groups since they tend to have the same general cultural interests. If you look closely at the groups, you will find the occasional elitist who will purposely associate with a group with whom he or she has no common interest. This person will initially show interest in the group but then begin to criticize other groups for not joining with them. This type of person thinks he or she is better than everyone else because he or she is culturally diversified, when in fact all the other groups could care less about diversification; they are content with their groups and with people in other groups. All the elitist does is draw attention to him or herself and suffer under the delusion that this makes him or her a better person.

Entertainment

Why do people pay so much to see someone else entertain them? Even during a down economy, people pay high prices for entertainment so they can make others richer. People who get rich in business are considered evil, while people who get rich as entertainers are made richer, and then excused for being rich. Oil companies who earn 3% income while producing the gasoline that makes life easier are considered evil, while Harpo, the corporation that  produces the Oprah Show, makes multimillions of dollars for Oprah, and she is considered a hero. People who produce the least get paid the most. The one who sits and talks to other entertainers gets paid millions of dollars, while the one who finds a cure for cancer gets a plaque and a pat on the back. According to Gore, the world will start to disintegrate in a few years and everything will be in chaos. When that occurs, who will be in great demand? Will it be entertainers, or those who produce what is needed for survival?

Religion

I was raised in a Southern Baptist church but, even as child, I questioned what I was being taught and what I saw and heard. One question was: why do Christians who profess to believe in life after death and going to heaven to live forever with God in love, peace, and eternal happiness do so much to avoid dying and mourn so much when a fellow Christian dies? If the person is going to a better place, it seems that everyone should be happy. It appears that Christians are selfish and want to keep their loved ones away from God as long as possible. One thing about radical Muslims, they practice what they preach. They believe in the hereafter and seek to get there was soon as possible.
