MIT

MIT, Minnesota Institute of Technology, opened  new Dali Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values, to be managed by a Buddhist monk. No other major science research institution in the U.S. has a center named for a contemporary religious leader. At the dedication, the Dali Lama said, “The majority of the 6 billion people on earth, I think, we can categorize as non-believers. So we must find a way to promote ethics and values with these non-believers. We need promotion of secular ethics through education.” Apparently, if you are not a Buddhist you are considered a non-believer and must be indoctrinated. Where is the outrage in the media, in the ACLU, and amongst celebrities? Imagine what would occur if the center had been named the Jerry Falwell Center for Ethics and Transformative Values was to be to be managed by a fundamentalist preacher.
