A child is dying of a disease. The family prays to God for the child to be cured or the disease. If the child is cured and lives, it is the answer to the prayers—a miracle. If the family believed that God could and would answer their prayers, then it is not a miracle; it is simply God answering their prayers.
If the child dies of the disease, the family says it was God’s will that the child died. If God was going to do his will no matter whether the family prayed or not, then the prayers were useless.
If the child dies of the disease and the family believes God may be swayed by prayer, then he must not have wanted to answer their prayer. Maybe they were being punished or maybe there were not enough prayers. On the other hand, not enough people prayed; maybe if just one more person had prayed, the child would have lived.
